Habitat:
Very widespread and fairly common in lowland primary and secondary terra firme forest and bamboo up to 1150 m (occasionally up to 1500 m but reports from 3000 m (Edmonds 2004) are doubtful); uncommon in floodplain forest where it appears to be replaced by closely related Oxysternon lautum and uncommon in gallery forest and dry forest
